Great podcast. I had always been a tea snob in regards to which is healthier. On keto though I was doing intermittent fasting so I was having my morning cuppa without food. I notice consistently most with green tea, some with black tea and NOT with coffee that I can’t tolerate it on an empty stomach. I have a horrible spacey feeling and then it feels like a blood sugar crash even though I’m keto-adapted and don’t have any noticeable sugar swings anymore since I’m very low carb. As a result my tea is saved for later in the day and I take my coffee with HWC & no breakfast. Thoughts?

I always thought tea was healthier, too, until I was given a work assignment to write about this!
Hm, I’m not totally sure what this could be, but my first instinct is the l-theanine content, combined with the caffeine. Typically it’s a slight mood boost, but can make people jittery, spacey and even nauseated!
If you search for the phrase “tea drunk” online, there are also some interesting theories!!
And I’m a big believer in the fact that keto makes you more sensitive and aware of your body. It could be a combination of things combined with increased awareness!
Thanks. My nausea does fit with the “tea drunk” descriptions. And maybe it is the keto lifestyle that makes me sensitive as I have been a heavy tea drinker all my life. Now I’m cautious and tend more toward coffee.
