Affiliate Note: Hi, friends! Just a a quick reminder - some of the links on this site are affiliate links, and so I may earn a little cash on qualifying orders. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed that I really like the Glo protein bars from Raw Revolution. Not only are they vegan and gluten free, but they’re also low in sugar and don’t contain artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols. I know – they’re the unicorn of protein bars.

Because of this deep and abiding love, when RawRev asked for bloggers to reach out to them for some bar samples, I jumped at the opportunity. I actually cheered when the box arrived! The bar shipment was really exciting because there are some new flavors that I haven’t tried before!

These bars really do make the perfect healthy gamer snack. I can keep them relatively close to the computer, for a bit of an energy boost mid-dungeon, and they’re actually healthy. Raw Rev uses a plant-based protein complex and even adds chia seeds in to their bars.

The bars are all gluten free and vegan, contain mostly raw ingredients and are even certified kosher!

Healthy Gamer Snack Review: Raw Rev Glo Bars

Available Flavors

Raw Rev Glo bars come in a pretty wide variety of flavors. My favorite is the Cookie Dough, though I’ll honestly eat any of them at any time with zero complaint.

Most of the flavors are available for purchase through their website, though the cookie dough and espresso varieties are currently only found on Amazon (no idea why).

The available flavors are:

  • Creamy Peanut Butter and Sea Salt
  • Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt (my favorite, pre-Cookie Dough)
  • Mixed Nuts, Caramel and Sea Salt
  • Dark Chocolate, Cashew and Mint
  • Crunchy Peanut Butter and Sea Salt
  • Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
  • Dark Chocolate Espresso

Taste:

Taste is pretty important when selecting a healthy gamer snack, and these bars are delicious. The flavors are quite strong (keep this in mind for the mint, cookie dough and espresso bars especially), so if you don’t LOVE mint or coffee – don’t buy those flavors.

The bars have a hint of that “plant-based protein” flavor that not everyone will love, but it’s almost unnoticeable.

Texture:

I’ve stressed how important I find texture to be when picking protein bars. Raw Revolution has got this down to a science. The bars are chewy while still being soft and easy to eat. These bars also avoid that sticky texture that many protein bars seem to have.

Ingredients:

Truly, this bar is one of the best vegan protein bars out there in terms of ingredients. While many vegan bars rely heavily on soy, Glo bars are free of soy, instead containing  a protein blend derived from nuts, seeds, pea and rice.

Macros:

Nutrition info varies across the flavors, but in general, the macros are as follows per bar:

  • calories: 190
  • carbs: 17g
  • fiber: 13g
  • fat: 13g
  • protein: 11g

Admittedly, there could be a little more protein (he bars all contain around 11-12g), but this is pretty standard for vegan protein bars.

The carbohydrates might seem high at 17g, but in reality, most of that is the prebiotic fiber that won’t actually be digested by you, but rather by your microbiome.

Price:

Bars are about $2 in stores and online, so again, not too shabby. This is par for the course with most protein bars, and well worth it for one that isn’t filled with junk.

Buying them by the case from your local natural foods store can get you a pretty good price, as can Amazon.

Other Notes:

Of course, these aren’t just a good healthy gamer snack. They’re perfect for hiking and camping, long road trips and other places where you’re going to want a quick healthy bite to eat!

    • Hi Mary! The net carbs vary by flavor, but they have around 6g. It might be high if you’re sticking to a strict ketogenic diet, but they are still relatively low carb!

I also like to budget my carbs for these because they are pretty tasty 🙂
